    Thanks
I decided to go for it yesterday and booked an apointment and had the work done yesterday, I had my first sitting of 4 hours and iv got to say the first 2hours I coudnt see what all the fuss was about as it wasn't as painfull as some of my other tattoos, but the last hour it did get rather sore and intense, but if anybody is scared about getting there ribs tattooed I would say go for it

The first 2 hours were ok but the last hour an half got very tender and painful Depends on your pain tolerance.

I find that my pain tolerance (viz., endorphins) lasts about three hours and then it is all pain no matter where I being worked on. I also want to get my ribs done to help complete my upper body (still need to go further down my arms too) but was a little nervous about the pain. I will do it no matter what, but after reading these posts, I am going to be a little more confident. Thanks guys. PS There are no silly questions when they are sincere. There are, unfortunately, silly answers.

The ribs and lower stomach were bad but you get through it like the rest of ur ink. I would def not make it ones first piece. The absoute worst area for me was my sternum that was absolutely the most painful thing I have ever had done to my body.

did my ribs on one side, and can't wait till my other side is done.
for the pain..mmm yep it hurts a little, but that's what my body tell's me.. but i tell you that it will never be 'pleasant'.
try it, and tell us later what you feel... don't hesitate, ;)
    get your ink done.

its definitlly the worst place ive had done. after 2 hours that tissue felt like sandpaper. after 3 1/2 hours i felt physically abused and ill. worth it tho ;)

for me the back is a bitch as well. but im now starting to think that it's because i can't see it... usually when i can see what the artist is doing, it doesn't hurt as much.. makes sense.

I have been wondering this myself! I have the tops of both feet and ankle/leg area. It tickled more than hurt. So that gives me hope the ribs won't suck.

Mine hurt. The actual ribs didn't hurt that bad but the skin right below the ribs did. Also, I didn't eat that day and the vibration of the gun with an empty stomach burned like hell, that was the worst part.

I just got a tattoo on my ass that was pretty intense the first couple of lines then no big deal, I was surprised it hurt as much as it did......

I have one on my sternum, i am debating simple lettering and a flower, that sternum was the worst, so im assuming since i got thru that one i could probably handle it??

I have both sides largely tatted. My first one could not be finished in a day so I spent 3 hours outlining it, and then a week later 2 hours shading it. It was all black, no color. It hurt a lot more than any of my other tattoos or piercings. The first outlining session really did kill me.

I tatted my other rib cage a month or two ago. It took 3 to 3 1/2 hours and it was in color. I'll just say that you look forward to it being over. The end results are always worth it.
