Can sweat damage a new tattoo?
-
Is it possible for sweat coming out of a freshly tattooed area to damage a new tattoo? I've always thought that my body has a hard time with tattoos’ healing and then I heard that if I have a very salty sweat that might be what is causing this to happen.
I'm one of those people that likes to work out every day, so that would explain more sweating than most people. I also work outside in the heat, so that probably doesn't help either.
If this is the case, how long should I skip working out after getting a new tattoo? -
only if you dont wash your tattoo. you can't help sweating, even if you don't work out. (espicially here in Texas) Sweat is natural and your sweat comes from your body so its not introducing anything forgien to the fresh tattoo but do be cautious about everyone else in the gym. make sure youre not coming into contact with anyone else's fluids via equipment.

I was just thinking of the sweat possibly pushing the ink out, and I don't know what sodium (in sweat) would do to tattoo ink before it is healed.
I stay away from gyms. I have my own exercise machine, and I run and bike.
Thanks for the replies.

I have some minor damage on my ankle tattoo from sweat. I'm an outside worker too and my new ink obviously had to be covered from the sun and dirt. The only damage is where my shoe didn't allow the area to breathe the rest was covered with loose cotton and I had to be very careful of rubbing & stretching for the 1st week. :)

I was working out the day after I got it done. I'm just making sure to take a shower and clean up right away.
