Phoenix Rising
This memorial tattoo means a great deal to me...
The wrench represents my father who died from cancer when I was just two years old. He was a jet machanic in the Air Force. I wish I got the chance to know him...
The dog tags are for my Uncle Bob. He was a Sargent/Major in the Army. He drove a supply truck in Nam. He died of cancer from Agent Orange in 1983. He taught me about women, honor and duty to country.
The scorpion barely hanging on, and for dear life, represents my best friend Robin K. He was my closest friend for 15 years, best man at my wedding and I am God Father to his three kids. He died in a roll over car accident in 2000. He wasn't wearing his seat belt (dammit Robin!).
It took me quite awhile to settle on the phoenix symbol for this memorial tattoo. It represents rebirth, to be completely consumed (live and die) and then reborn, to rise from your own ashes.
"all we are is dust in the wind..."
