they take a flat piece of metal and place it under your second layer of skin. It has a tiny hook on it to hold it in place, .It stays under your skin so all you see is the jewelry (which can be changed). this is all done with a needle. (some studios will use something called a 'dermal punch' which I've heard is much more painful.) it does hurt a bit but as soon as the jewelry is in, it goes away. I am very happy with mine. I''ve had them about a month now and had no problems at all!

they cut out a piece of skin & slide in the jewelry...
hmmm maybe ill get some on my collar bones...wonder who does this in fl?
