This guy sent me a friend request, so I go to look at his page and his profile pic is of his dog, a pitbull, I love animals, am very involved in the animal activist community, etc and pitties are my favorite breed. So when I take a closer look, I see his dog has a heavy chain around his neck and his ears are cropped, not good signs. I asked him if he keeps his dogs chained up in the yard and he told me he does. This infuriates me, what is the point of even having a dog if you are going to keep in chained up 24/7?? I mean, it can't exactly protect you from intruders because it is chained up! Dogs are pack animals and want to be part of your family, not isolated in the yard. He said he keeps him chained up because if he didn't, he would go hunting and run away, well I don't blame the dog, I would want to run away if I had to live on a chain. People are so ignorant. I am part of a group that tries to educate people about the damage and cruelty of chaining a dog. He didn't want to hear it so he sent me a nasty email and blocked me. He lives in Fla, I don't know the laws on tethering in Fla, some states have banned it, some have limits on it. Maybe one of you guys who lives in Fla can friend him and find out where he lives and find out more about the situation. I wouldn't be surprised if he participates in dog fighting.

ive seen the pics of that dog and it looks healthy.....maybe it would be cruel if it was skin and bones or something but its not....just b/c he has it on a chain doesnt mean its on there 24/7......its pretty wrong of u to accuse him of dog fighting...if u know so much about it u should be able 2 tell that dog hasnt been involved in fighting!! u shouldnt be telling ppl not to add him either.....that dog looks great and taken care of...

he told me he keeps the dog chained up 24/7! Just because you feed the dog doesn't mean you are taking care of it. Also, cropping a dogs ears is cruel and painful. The reason people do that to pitbulls is to make them look mean. I didn't assume he chained him up, he told me that. And you would be surprised at how much dog fighting goes on in this country. Chaining a dog is NEVER ok. Things are not always as they appear hun.

there would be scars on that dogs face if he had been in dog fights....im gonna ask him if he told u he keeps it chained 24/7 b/c i doubt he said that...he may have said he keeps it chained but not all the time...and just b/c his dog is on a chain doesnt mean he isnt taking care of it!

I didn't say 100 percent he was fighting the dog but you never know. Yes he feeds the dog but no dog deserves to be chained up. Its that simple. They belong in the house. Yes of course they should go outside and run around but there is no point of chaining the dog at all, that's why you have fences. I don't think dogs should sleep outside either.
