    Hi my friends,
My little family and I are getting ready to do a trip around Australia - soon..

We are up to the stage of getting the car =] my hubby has done his research and has come up with the car that suits us best - for room, towing caravan, longer trip not just a weekend trip and saftey and all that stuff - would be a Nissan Patrol 4x4 diesel but we now are not sure on the part about automatic or manual, towing reasons they say you have better control with a manual?????

So here's where your help would be appreciated - what do you think Auto or manual and why?

And what do you think about a Nissan Patrol?

Anywho thank you soooo much for your help..

    HAvE A MaGiCaL DaY!!!

I prefer the manual because I have control over when I shift, therefore I feel safer. I drive a Chevy 4x4 truck and know nothing about Nissans. Is the diesel motor more economical to operate then a gasoline motor?

i have personally seen automatic's tow huge trailers and not lack one bit. on the other hand i personally like driving manual i like having control over what gears i am in. especially 4 wheeling. other than that have a blast.

Best to go with a standard if you can drive it, a lot better control, and can be a lot easier on the engine, if you are going across rugged country. in terms of what, or how good a vehicle it is, try to stay away from the Nissan, find a good Toyota if you can, much more reliable, and specially since you will be bringing little ones along with you, better safe than sorry..

simple, manual. traveling around our beautiful australia you never know what can happen, but at least if you have a manual you can clutch start it if you forget to leave lights on etc, like what happened to me on my way up the coast one year.
    enjoy
