Can Someone Explain this to me??

I know that it is hard to convey emotion in a typed format. So first off, allow me to try and explain that I am not looking to attack anyone here. I am just trying to understand.
Why are there so many people on here posting and re-posting photos of work that is not theirs AND is not on them? Maybe I am misunderstanding the point of the site.... but "check out my ink" would imply to me that the person has some association with the work that they are posting. Either they have created it or they are wearing it.
I can even understand someone posting the occasional piece from another artist explaining that they are using it for inspiration.
But I just don't get page after page of other people's work - especially when the artist is not given credit or tagged in the keywords.
So I am hoping that someone can explain this to me.
    Thanks,
    TeeJay

Hey Teejay, it's been an ongoing argument for a while, there is a thread up right now on the forums discussing this very thing. I agree, if you're gonna post someone else's work, put their name on it, If you don't know whose it is you really have no business posting their shit without permission. Others tend to disagree and feel that once it's posted on the web, it becomes everyone's property to do with as they please. What do I know. later, Crazy

Well if nothing else - at least I feel better knowing that I am not the only one who thinks this is odd.

another way oflooking at it is this.............say i find an amazing tattoo that rocks my world, but i dont know who did it, is that reason enough not to share it with all the enthusiast that are on here? i am all for giving credit for who did the work, and believe that if you dont know who did it, to say that. but in the same light, i want share awesome tattoos with the community of check out my ink. and when i find one that blows my mind i may post one in my pics, not in my tattoos.
you just gotta be patient, remember not everyone on here does tattooing, not everyone follows the rules, a lot of tattoo fans are uneducated about the mysteries of tattooing and lastly some people are just going to try and be something they are not.

Nope. It makes perfect sense to me to find a tattoo that rocks your world and repost it. A holy crap - check this out! sort of thing. And yes, even if you don't know who did it.
What I am talking about is people who have built entire profiles full of 100s of tattoos. None of which they did and none of which they give credit for. What I am asking is what is the desire to do that? Boredom? Liking to be mistaken for the person who did the work? What is it that causes someone to spend hours and hours scouring the internet for tattoo photos - just to repost them here?
Maybe it can't be explained to me in a way that I can understand.

I would suggest you send the people in question a pm and ask them personally why they post the 100's of photo's, that's how I got the answer to my questions!
Like mansl-aughter said, maybe it's just to share a great looking tattoo with you!!!

I agree mansl-aughter, as long as its stated that the tattoo was not done by the profiles owner
