well theres 1 band around today that i can say have kept the thrash metal name alive and thats slipknot !

never have been a slipknot fan. As far as thrash goes you have to give it to bands like Slayer, Metallica, and Testament.

i saw them live with slayer on the unholly tour and slayer kicked ass and slipknot were out of this world they are amazing, sorry chap but if your into thrash metal and dont like slipknot well iam speachless

i think aborted and gorgoroth would have to be my two favorites, the singer from gorgoroth tortured some guy for like 2 years and then he broke his legs and let him go then he pulled him back in the house and tortured him some more, so you know theyre the real deal. and aborted is just good.

I like Killswtich,Life of Agony,Motorgrator,Iced Earth,Mudvayne, and many others. I'm More of a 80's guy Dio,Iron Maidon,Preist and many others as well.

Suffocation and acacia strain are pretty good... i must admit tho, i'm a bit of a punk bunny but my best mate plays in annotations of an autopsy (who i'm not too fond of personally, but ya know) who are on tour soon with both of these bands... little bastard is also playing download to end their mini tour with black dahlia... i'm not jealous much!

Another good one is a band from here in chicago area called whorrid. My sons band played with them at a couple shows and they are brutal. Also a local band called kataplexy.

Here is a great band to check out...Their first cd was self produced and the second cd was produced by and featured Corey Taylor..They are huge in Japan and getting bigger in Europe...Slitheryn!

from the old school like black sabbath...judas priest...saxon....motorhead....to all the hair metal of motley crue....whitesnake....van halen....to lamb of god......trivium....in flames...strapping young lads...hatebreed....my all time favs are ...JUDAS PRIEST....Halford is god!!!...fucking SLAYER....and of course...BLACK LABEL SOCIETY....alot was unmetioned here....the grunge metal era of soundgarden....corrosion of conformity....to the newer more melodic metal bands such as disturbed...godsmack...fear factory....etc....and didn't even mention mettallica or megadeth....METAL IS METAL..!!!horns up!!!...peace...Fuzz...the Calgary chapter of the Black Label Society -

i was on decide gig few weeks ago, fuckin a! napalm death was headliner but... suffocation! about death metal... i love new sounds, with industrial, so i can say zyklon, berzerker, the amenta... bands like that.

Alot of great bands mentioned here..but cant believe that you forgot Pantera!!! Cowboys From Hell was the best....second to that Megadeth.....I have been trying to learn Holy Wars for years now!!!!

Metallica rule the world as far as I am concerned.Just saw them in Dublin 2 weeks ago and they kicked ass.Can't wait for release of their new album.Just got Slipknots new album aswell and it is good.Must agree to with calliebum73 Cowboys from Hell by Pantera is a great record..
