I've kinda always hated how the Sex Pistols were labeled as a "founder of punk"... They were thrown together by a producer to sell "shabby clothing" to kids. Sid Vicious had NEVER played an instrument before getting into the band, and had very little practice by the time their first gig started. Johnny Rotten is a loud-mouthed egotistical blow hard (Listen to P.I.L. for an example of sell-out "New wave")

They were the 70's example of Linkin Park. A commercialized "Frankenstein" band, thrown together by someone looking to cash in on Doc Martins, Mowhawk dye, Chain jewelry, leather, spiked bracelets, ripped jeans, and Anarchy patches. (The reason I've tattooed AT LEAST 4 sets of "Flame wrist bands" is because of the copy-cat SHIT that the producers want... these wacky kids eat it up, buy thier clothes, CD's, wallets, etc...!)

Besides... Sid's dead (True to fashion, O.D.ed on heroin, after "accidentally" stabbing his girlfriend.) How edgy!

i'm not sure that i agree , you gotta put it into the context o the time. prior to pistols the music scene was very mundane...then the explosion. for me as a spotty youth at the time it had a monumentous effect. .i had read about the pistols in the music rags then one night on the john peel show i heard anarchy........it blew me away. that was it! out went the flares ,cropped the hair and i was away !!!!!!!!
perhaps wi the gift o hindsight you are right but at he time , over here, it's just what was needed. at the very least, what would the music scene be lke without the pistols?
re sid no bein able to play instrument , that was the whole ethos o punk rock, supposedly
whole heartedly agree about the fashion paragragh

well...i remember Sex pistols as a fun time
    i think Sexpistols should RIP
i like them as they are a fantasic period of my life
but...dead is dead and should not come back again

    and
    agaru!
Yes Sid did not playd Bass!
he was not a real music man

Lenny (Motörhead) showed him how to handle with a bass
and that's it (a 2 hours lesson on the piccadilly)

    HA HA
    this is really funny!
